Red Lotus is a depiction of a lotus flower. The lotus is illustrated with vibrant hues of yellow, orange, and pink, with a delicate gradation in the petals. The flower rises from a thick green stem that extends from two large, voluminous lotus leaves rising above a painted blue water body. While the subject matter of the red lotus flower is simple, the background is complex with subtle colors used in the kana calligraphy of the Iroha, Japan's ancient poem about the fleeting nature of life. In addition there are four red seals that enhance this painting: Two are seals of the artist's name, another is the dragon seal, and the fourth is a small buddha off to the right side of the red blossom. This entire piece is done on a translucent piece of tengucho paper so that the umbrella washi paper shows through in a muted way. Red Lotus with its red artist stamps brings an element of traditional Zen brush to the piece. This print comes flat in a supported sleeve and is ready to be framed and hung. Art print
